Painting competition fosters fosters hope, creative resilience in displaced children

Imphal, June 01 2025:
MaolKeki Foundation (MKF) in collaboration with IMA Foundation successfully organised an art competition with the theme 'Healing with Art'.
The competition took place at three different relief camps on Sunday, bringing together children and youth to express their emotions, stories, and dreams through the power of art.
As per a release issued by MKF, the art competition is a step towards healing, hope, and creative resilience in communities that have survived the atrocities of the ongoing conflict in Manipur.
'Healing with Art' is more than a competition, it is building life back one step at a time.
Over 110 children participated in the competition at three relief camps namely, Mukta High School Relief Camp in Bishnupur district, Mekola Relief Camp in Imphal West district, and Kakching Indoor Stadium Relief Camp in Kakching district.
During the competition, each participant was given a set of colouring items' including oil pastel of different quantities, pencils, drawing paper and eraser.
Notebooks, additional pencils, geometry boxes and sanitary pads were also distributed amongst the children.
From the competition, 21 children will be selected and provided a month-long mentoring by IMA Foundation.
Following this, their art will be auctioned to raise funds to support Internally Displaced Persons in Manipur.
On the occasion, Radha Binod Sharma, founder of IMA Foundation, said, "Colour with creativity and positivity can powerfully generate energy.
I am very excited to be part of this initiative and look forward to reviewing the paintings and mentoring the children in the coming weeks" .
