Outreach programmes on SVEEP held

Imphal, February 29 2024: A one-day Integrated Communication and Outreach Programme (ICOP) on Systematic Voter's Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) was organised at Western College, Konthoujam, Imphal West District today.

The ICOP was organised by the Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Regional Office, Imphal under the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India, said a release.

It was attended by Khumanthem Debendro Singh, Principal, Western College, Konthoujam; Konthoujam Mangi Singh, member, Governing Body of the college and Kakchingtabam Naresh Sharma, Assistant professor, Department of Political Science as presidium members.

Outreach programmes on SVEEP held

During the programme,the role of citizens in electing its representatives in the Government was discussed with the first time voters along with other topics such as ethical voting, EVM, Voter Verified Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT), role of presiding officer, birth of democracy, etc.

An on-the-spot quiz contest was held and prizes along with certificates were handed over to the winners.

Certificate of participation was also distributed to the attendees.

Private registered troupe of CBC, RO, Imphal M/s The Imphal Theatre, Manipur, presented a theme based drama called 'We, the people of India" .

Similarly, an outreach programme on SVEEP was also held yesterday at Shree Shree Gourgobind Girls' College, Imphal.

It was attended by Dr K Jaboshakhi Devi, Principal, Shree Shree Gourgobind Girls' College, Imphal; Dr RK Radhesana Devi, Head, Department of Political Science and Dr I Loken, Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science of the college as presidium members.

Discussion on EVM, VVPAT, ethical voting, etc and an on-the-spot quiz contest were the other highlights of the programme.

Private registered troupe of CBC, RO, Imphal M/s Apunba Artiste Association of Singjamei, Imphal also entertained the audience with a theme based drama.
