Manipur government could not protect life of the civil populace when security forces killed people whenever they like, charged the locals of Sagolband staging protest against the killing of a youth of the locality by the troops of Assam Rifles in alleged "fake encounter".
Locals alleged that the youth killed by the troops of 28 Assam Rifles on Friday morning as suspected militants was not a militant and was shot dead after rounding from Imphal Bazar area in total contradict with the claimed made by the IGAR(S) yesterday.
The AR authority had claimed that the youth was a militant and troops of Assam Rifles killed him in retaliatory action of the troops who were fired upon by some armed underground activists at Waithou Chiru area under Lilong Police Station of Thoubal district at about 2.20 am of Friday with the recovery of a 9mm pistol loaded with one live round.
The slain 28-year old youth identified as Irengbam Gunindro son of late Tolpishak of Sagolband Khumnam Leirak, Imphal west was abducted on Thursday evening by some unknown persons in civil dress coming on a white colour Maruti Car 800, locals staging protest against the killing lamented Saturday.
"He was shot dead in fake encounter, a trend that security forces and state police commandos are indulging in Manipur unabated despite hue and cry," members of the JAC formed in connection with the alleged custodian killing of the youth told reporters .
The killing of Gunindro took place while family members are efforting to trace out after he went missing after abducted by some persons in a civil dress coming on a white colour Maruti Van, he went on to say adding that many locals witnessed his abduction leaving behind his scooter near the office of a local club.
The dead body of the slain youth is still lying at RIMS morgue as unclaimed body as family with the support of the JAC refused to receive the body demanding judicial inquiry into the killing and booking of AR personnel involved in the extra-judicial killing.
"We have lodged complaint with the Chief Minister today and if no action to translate their demands is taken up we will be compelled to launch agitations of various kinds to deliver justice in the killing," they warned.
