TSLI comes out strongly against assault

Imphal, July 28 2024: The Tangkhul Shanao Long Imphal (TSLI) has vehemently condemned the July 26 Ocean Lounge incident where armed miscreants opened fire and assaulted a Takhul woman and several others.

In a statement, the TSLI said the armed miscreants assaulted the woman and men who came to her rescue.

The armed men also mercilessly thrashed a passer-by who has been hospitalised after sustaining life threatening injury.

Such inhuman acts are not tolerable in a civilised society.

The incident shows the vulnerability of a woman in the heart of the capital, it said.

The TSLI asserted that the incident is not an isolated case.

Such an attack on women is an attack on the whole community, and it needs to be addressed at the earliest.

'It is our demand that all the culprits be punished as per the law so that such violent incidents are not repeated and women do not fall prey to such crimes in the near future,' said TSLI.
