135th death anniversary of Pukhrambam Kajao observed

The 135th death anniversary of Pukhrambam Kajao (Phingang Lanrnee) was observed today at Pukhrambam Kaj ao Memorial Compound, Kangmong Maisnam Leikai.
The event was organised by the Pukhrambam Kajao Memorial Trust Manipur in collaboration with the Justice Committee on Anglo Manipuri War 1891 and Martyrs and Freedom Fighters of Kangleipak Manipur.
It was attended by former rebel leader RK Sanayaima alias Meghen, Justice Committee on Anglo Manipuri War, 1891, Martyrs and Freedom Fighter of Kangleipak, Manipur chairman Joychandra Konthoujam, Pukhrambam Kajao Memorial Trust Manipur, vice-president Ngangom Tomal, DM University former director of Sports, Professor RK Chandrakumar, Writer and Social Activist, Hareshwar Goshwami, MU Professor in Yoga, Dr N Ibohal and Art and Culture, retd Joint Director Sapam Bheigya as presidium members.
Speaking in this connection, Rk Sanayaima stated that Manipur needs a brave hero like Pukhrambam Kajao who could sacrifice for the sake of the motherland.
He urged the people to follow the footsteps of Kajao to overcome the enemies.
He said that there is a huge conspiracy behind the recent incident of Gwaltabi on May 20, where central security forces forced a group of journalists travelling to attend the opening ceremony of Shirui Lily Festival at Ukhrul to conceal the word "Manipur' inscribed on a State Transport bus.
Justice Committee chairman Joychandra Konthoujam said that the silence of some MLAs regarding the Gwaltabi incident must be clarified to the people.
He also urged the MLAs to work for the interest of the people leaving aside working for their personal gains.
Later at the event, the gathering paid rich floral tributes at the resting place of Pukhrambam Kajao and at the statue of the martyr.
The event was also attended by members of Arambai Tenggol and students of Thang-Ta Academy.
