In connection with the proposed visit of a Parliamentary team from Bangladesh to inspect the site where the cross border Tipaimukh Multipurpose Dam Project is to be constructed, a preparatory meeting on the security arrangement was held today morning with Chief Secretary DS Poonia in the chair.
According to a reliable source, the meeting attended by DGP Y Joykumar and representatives of Army among others, discussed the security arrangements to be taken up at the dam site in detail.
The Parliamentary team comprising of 15 Bangladeshi MPs is expected to arrive at Imphal on July 30.On the other hand, according to an official source, construction of a water supply scheme to provide water in Imphal area from Thoubal Dam through laying of pipeline, covering a distance of 25 kms, has been included in the action plan of the works to be taken up within the first 100 days of the second tenure of the UPA Government in the Centre.
Significantly, the State Cabinet had discussed and recommended the project in one of its meetings on June 29 .
