Staging of cultural items by various amateur artistes and pledges by top CRPF officials to relentlessly serve the people of Manipur marked an impressive civic action programme organised by 69 Bn CRPF at its Mantripukhri headquarters today during which musical instruments and computer sets were also distributed to
different organisations.
The event was held with IGP Manipur & Nagaland Sector (CRPF) RC Tayal, the Sector's DIGs VK Bisht and BD Das, and Commandant of the host CRPF battalion UB Mishra as presidium members.
Top officers of other CRPF units, including a number of Commandants were also present at the occasion along with eminent citizens, leaders of different community, officials from the civil authority and large number of locals, youth and students.
The dignitaries presented four computer sets with accessories worth Rs 99,840 to representatives of SS Vidyalaya, Charhajare near Motbung (Senapati district) and musical instruments worth Rs 99,750 to KRIPA Foundation (Mantripukhri), similar items worth Rs 99,9,25 to a cultural organisation of the Anal community based in New Checkon area and to the Sinlung Star of Lamphelpat worth Rs 99,640 .
It is informed that presentation of the computer sets to the Charhajare institution will benefit over 300 of its students whereas the musical instruments were provided by the 69 Bn CRPF with an aim to encourage local musical troupes hone their talents and to ensure that aspiration of talented artistes is not impaired due to want of musical instruments or basic infrastructure.
In his brief comment, RC Tayal conveyed that the CRPF is true friend and peace keeper of the local people and will always remain at their service whenever needed.
Noting rich cultural diversity and talent of Manipuri sportspersons, the chief guest reiterated CRPF's commitment to serve the people and contribute its mite in the growth, development and prosperity of the State.
Commandant UB Mishra, who also addressed the gathering assured that the battalion will continue to take care of the welfare and aspirations of the people.
The humanitarian gesture of the Unit has been appreciated by eminent citizens, local leaders and NGOs, and such a noble activities and Samaritan work done by the 69 Bn CRPF will go a long way in the service of humanity, he expressed.
Later in the day, the IGP (M&N Sector) RC Tayal inaugurated a toilet complex constructed by the 69 Bn CRPF for Destitute Children Home, Chingmeirong.
The complex comprising of two toilets with septic tank and a water storage facility is informed to have been constructed at a cost of Rs 1,99,550 .
