Meiteis in Myanmar celebrate Sanamahism

Ima Leimarel Sidapi and Ima Panthoibi at Yadana Guu Pagoda at LatWayMint Taing Quarters in Amarapura Township of Mandalay, Myanmar were adorned new clothes today, said Eputhou Pakhangba Lainingkol, Mandalay in a statement.
Eputhou Pakhangba Lainingkol Mandalay president N Ngangom Moirangcha, members Henthoiba, Puron Khangba and Chinglemba Mangang and many followers of Sanamahi faith attended the ceremony.
The ceremony was jointly organised by the Federation of Indigenous People's Democratic Movement (FIPDM), MMDA and Eputhou Pakhangba Lainingkol, Mandalay.
Seeking blessing for the whole Meitei community on the occasion, N Ngangom Moiragcha thanked the Federation of Indigenous People's Democratic Movement for donating the new clothes for the goddesses.
He underscored the importance of preserving and promoting Meitei Sanamahi religion and Temples in many regions of Myanmar.
He said the Government of India should give Sanamahism a separate unique code as an officially recognised minority religion of India.
He called on the Sanamahi Temple Board, Uttra Shanglen Sana Konung, Umanglai Kanba Lup and Meetei Marup to push for recognition of Sanamahism as a minority religion and preserve it for future generations.
