Swachhata Hi Seva campaign launched

Swachhata Hi Seva 2024 campaign with the theme, "Swabhav Swachhata - Sanskaar Swachhata" was launched today at Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal.
To mark the launch of the campaign, an Opening and Pledging Ceremony was held in front of the General OPD Block at RIMS Hospital, Imphal, said a release issued by RIMS.
The event was inaugurated by Prof N Sanjib Singh, Medical Superintendent of RIMS Hospital in the presence of Prof Y Govindaraj Singh, Nodal Officer of SAP 2024-25/Kaya Kalp.
During the ceremony, Prof N Sanjib outlined the activities planned for the campaign, which will run until October 1, 2024.These activities include waste collection, segregation & disposal, tree plantation and enforcement of a plastic ban.
Pro N Sanjib also urged the gathering to contribute actively in maintaining a clean and hygienic hospital environment.
The ceremony was attended by the Sub-Dean of RIMS, Principals of College of Nursing and Dental College, faculty members, Nursing Superintendent, officials, staff, students, and representatives from the Centre for Research on Environmental Development (CRED) and Manipur Security Services.
The participants also took the Swachhata Pledge to promote cleanliness and responsible waste management.
IBSD
Swachhta Hi Seva, 2024 campaign was also launched today at the Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development (IBSD), Imphal under the leadership of Prof Pulok K Mukherjee, Director, IBSD.
The campaign will be carried out from September 17 to October 2 at IBSD, Imphal with this year's theme centred on "Behavioral and Ethical Cleanliness".
According to a release issued by IBSD, the campaign aims to promote personal habits and social responsibility toward cleanliness, particularly in rural areas.
The initiative is part of a Nationwide effort to reinforce the idea that maintaining hygiene is a civic duty and a form of public service.
The campaign will include tree plantation drives, mass cleaning programmes, students' awareness programme and workshop on health & well-being.
Notably, IBSD is the only institute in NER in the ambit of Biotechnology Research and Innovation Council (BRIC), Department of Biotechnology, Government of India established at Imphal and has three Centres in other states of NER including Meghalaya, Mizoram and Sikkim.
