Demanding unconditional and immediate release of Kanan, groups of people marched to the Imphal East DC office complex from the directions of Kongpal, Top Khongnangkhong and Wakha.
The protesters also burnt tyres on Porompat DC Road and put timber, bamboo etc across the road.
In their efforts to drive away the protesters, security forces fired several rounds of tear gas shells, smoke bombs and mock bombs.
