Two accused remanded

Imphal, July 07 2025: The two accused who surrendered to Nambol police station in connection with the killing of Meitei Salai Thiyam (21) have been remanded to police custody.

Loitongbam Pinky (22) d/o (L) Nilamani of Kwakeithel Konjeng Leikai and Leishangthem Lanchenba (20) s/o Loken of Hiyangthang Maning Leikai were produced before the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Bishnupur by a team of Keibul Lamjao police station along with a prayer to remand them in police custody for 8 days.

After they surrendered before Nambol police station yesterday at around 3.30 pm, the accused persons were arrested by Keibul Lamjao police station last night along with the murder weapon (knife) .

APP for the State submitted that yesterday at around 5 pm a scuffle broke out at Thanga Khunjem Leikai at around 12.30 pm between some unknown persons, three males and three females, who came for sightseeing.

Meitei Salai Thiyam (21) s/o Thiyam Karuna Devi of Palace Compound, Govindajee Road Imphal was stabbed by Loitongbam Pinky in collusion with Leisangthem Lanchenba who accompanied Loitongbam Pinky.

The victim sustained serious injury and he succumbed to his injury at Asian Hospital.

The Court, after hearing the submission of the APP, remanded the accused persons to police custody till July 14 .

Meanwhile, the dead body of Meitei Salai Thiyam was claimed by family members after post mortem at RIMS morgue this evening.
