Senapati, May 04 2024:
In connection with the viral photo of three girls alleged to have raped a boy doing rounds on social media platforms and the photo of a shirtless boy with red marks on his face alleged to be the victim, the Senapati District Women Association (SDWA) clarified that incident is false and misleading.
A clarification note by the Information & Publicity Wing of SDWA said that the information shared over the post is inaccurate and baseless.
It stated that the viral photo of the three girls is relating to the missing case of three minor girls who went absconding from home and later apprehended after a hectic search on April 17, 2024 .
They were handed over to their respective guardians however two of the girls ran away from home on April 24, 2024 and still remain untraceable till date, added the note.
SDWA went on to state that the photo of a shirtless boy with red marks on his face, alleged to be the victim of rape is actually someone who assisted the girls to abscond.
In view of the sensitivity of the case since the girls are minors and alleging of sexual offense is a serious crime under POCSO Act, 2012, the Senapati women body cautioned that anyone found spreading such false allegation and misinformation will be dealt strictly as per the law.
Informing that measures have been taken up to trace the source of the viral post the SDWA appealed to the general public not to entertain such fake news and rumours.
Further it urged all to refrain from sharing the post on social media platforms.
