Occupation of Thangjing-Koubru is distorting our history: PREPAK(Pro)
Source: The Sangai Express

Imphal, June 01 2025: The proscribed outfit PREPAK(Pro) has asserted that the occupation of Thangjing-Koubru by refugees means manipulating "our history" .

On the occasion of PREPAK(Pro)'s 15th Progressive Day (June 1), the outfit's Chairman Longjam Paliba M has saluted all those who had sacrificed their lives in safeguarding the motherland and empathised with those grieving families who have been facing the ongoing distressing situation.

A statement issued by Longjam Paliba M alleged that India never shared political or economic power to let Manipur prosper.

In the context of Manipur, the Indian Constitution has been very biasedly framed.

Refugees are allowed to live independently, like the divine descendents, by embracing them into ST category with unique protective rights.

Subsequently, they were permitted to settle in vast tracts of hills and mountain ranges, which has strategically empowered them to drive out the indigenous communities and successfully practise the ethnic cleansing policy, it said.

Chin-Kuki refugees never respect the Thangjing-Koubru Hills as the historically sacred places of origination and livelihood for Meiteis.

Rather they ridiculed these sacred places.

"Shamelessly, on the contrary, they illegally settle and openly attempt to propagate the so-called 'the Biblical promised land' as it had mentioned in the Old Testament.

Indeed, they are kidnappers of our National history", the statement read.

Countries such as the United Kingdom (UK), are governed by a network of Quangos.

These Quangos are funded by the Government, whose acronym is 'Quasi Autonomous Non-Governmental Organizations', which have the power to set rules, adjudicate and impose services.

Apart from this, there are also many specially protected areas, such as 'No-Go Areas or No-Go Zones', in several big cities of Europe where their citizens are not allowed to enter those places.

Many criminals and terrorists are able to stay freely in those areas.

The Indian Constitution allows raising the so-called 'Quangos or No-Go Areas' in Manipur, it alleged.

Manipur itself is a hill land, ironically hill areas are reserved exclusively for ST, while the major community Meiteis are squeezed in many ways.

"India has been mobilizing and nurturing the Zo-Kuki to become the armed community for countering insurgents like us.

However, India apparently knows that these particular communities are already becoming the extended demonic hands of Western countries.

"No permanent peace can be achieved until and unless such powerful rules which can break up our land are completely thrown out.

Our public leaders are requested to meticulously study such imperilling situations and to face them together", Paliba said.

Two intellectual groups, mainly from the valley, came into being, after Manipur entered into relations with India and British rulers.

One group of educated middle-class people deeply followed the cultural and religious based ideas of Bharat.

Another intellectual group also fully believed in the highly westernized 'Ideas of India', which are based on unity in diversity, democracy and rule of law, welfare State, equality and justice.

These two ideas had stirred up the collective belief that Manipur will be a golden land once it associates with India.

Truly speaking, Manipuris of that generation might have believed that there could be an 'Autonomous Manipur' along with independent India-Bharat.

However, Manipur was humiliated by reducing it to district-level status for many years, it said.

In spite of enjoying a huge majority, the MLAs are not allowed to form a popular Government, it remarked.

The prevailing overall condition of Meiteis is becoming very distressing as they are not allowed to go beyond Sekmai, Pallel, Sugnu, Yaingangpokpi and Kumbi, the statement read.

"Our centuries old independent political status and its image is totally erased.

The basic idea of India-Bharat is like a Black Hole that has swallowed up our prideful ideas of Manipur which are based on living together, collective progress, ruling and ownership of our ancestral land", Paliba said.

There are some strong appealing voices for uniting the CSOs.

But such voices need to be dispelled, as these CSOs carry only one fundamental objective, which is to safeguard the territorial integrity by vehemently opposing the demand for Separate Administration.

This shared-objective encourages thousands of people to come out and participate in the movement.

If those who eloquently appeal for unification of CSOs stand firmly, they themselves must courageously move forward until their goals are fulfilled without concerning whether the CSOs are united or not, it said.

The insurgents have been fighting collectively to safeguard the territory and even jointly participating in many other issues.

"We also chalk out the reality-induced objectives and ultimate objective under the framework of objectives and means.

We translate works into actions by distinguishing the nature of the works to be done with the people, and solely done by us", it said.

The PREPAK(Pro) Chairman said that the party will seek help respectfully from upper middle classes, farmers and workers.

It also appealed to the 'kindred police personnel' to support them indirectly.

"Lastly, our advice is that as long as you have faith in the political loyalty to India, our motherland will be a sinking ship", it added.
