New cases low, but death count continues

The low count continues and so does the daily number of deaths due to the virus with Manipur reporting 83 new cases and two deaths in the last 24 hours.
The COVID-19 Common Control Room in a statement today said that Manipur reported 2 deaths in the last 24 hours to take the cumulative number of persons claimed by the virus to 2092 .
The two deceased persons hailed from Imphal West and Bishnupur.
Both of them suffered from co-morbidities and while one of them had received the first dose of the vaccine, the other was unvaccinated, said the COVID-19 Common Control Room quoting the State Level COVID-19 Deaths Audit Committee.
The 83 new cases, all civilians were detected at RIMS (3), JNIMS (11) and other testing centres (69) .
The new cases were detected while testing a total sample of 1671 to take the daily positivity rate to 5 percent.
Chandel emerged at the top of the positivity rate with 11.1 percent, Kangpokpi (9.1 percent), Ukhrul (8.6 percent), Noney (7.9 percent), Kakching (7.8 percent), Imphal East (5.7 percent) and Imphal West (5.4 percent) .
The new cases are from Imphal East (17), Imphal West (30), Thoubal (4), Bishnupur (5), Kakching (5), Kangpokpi (3), Tamenglong (3), Ukhrul (6), Noney (3), Senapati (2), Chandel (3) and Churachandpur (2) .
All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, said the COVID-19 Common Control Room.
With the addition of 83 more cases, the cumulative number of positive cases in the State is now 1,36,322 including 5001 Central security personnel.
The number of active cases now stands at 687 inclusive of 34 Central security personnel.
During the same period a total of 103 persons were discharged from home isolation (73), RIMS (3), JNIMS (10) and CCCs (17).The COVID-19 Common Control however said that due to various reasons, 1385 persons are being reported as discharged cases only today, thereby taking the number of recovered cases to 1488.This figure was arrived after reconciliation with reports from IDSP team, home isolation team, community home isolation and hospitalisation team as on February 18, said the statement.
The cumulative number of recovered cases thus stands at 1,33,543 including 4960 Central security personnel.
The recovery rate has jumped to 97.96 percent.
The number of Covid vaccine administered on February 17 is 6377 taking the cumulative doses administered to 26,55,355 including 11,07,431 second dose and 53,892 precautionary dose.
Manipur has so far vaccinated 47.31 percent of the eligible population with the second dose while 60.5 percent have been covered with the first dose.
A total of 256 D Type Oxygen cylinders and 99 B Type Oxygen cylinders were made available to different health centres across the State in the last 24 hours.
At RIMS a total of 257 Covid beds are vacant while at JNIMS 96 beds are vacant.
