After meeting with Rajnath, PMP Bill set for re-examination

The Protection of Manipur People Bill 2015 will be re-examined by legal and constitutional experts for a new legislation to protect and preserve the indigenous people of Manipur after looking into all aspects of the hill and valley people of Manipur.
This was agreed at a meeting of the all party delegation and Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, according to a press release issued by the all party delegation.
The press release was jointly signed by Chief Minister O Ibobi, Deputy Chief Minister Ghaikhangam, MPCC president TN Haokip, MPCC Treasurer K Ranjit, BJP Manipur Pradesh president Ksh Bhabananda, BJP MLA Th Biswajit, Manipur Trinamool Congress president Th Shyamkumar, NCP Manipur president L Ibom-cha, LJP Manipur president K Shyam, JD-U Manipur president M Tombi, S Shanta-kumar of BJP, Manihar Gos- wami of Janata Dal (S) Manipur, O Joy of Manipur, MPP president N Sovakiran, CPI Manipur State Secretary Dr M Nara, AAP Manipur convenor Th Manihar, CPI-M Manipur State Secretary Sarat Salam and Ksh Santa of CPI-M Manipur.

On the other hand, Manipuri tribal students staying at Delhi staged a protest demonstration in front of Manipur Bhavan, Sardar Patel Marg, Delhi in denunciation of the three Bills this evening.
As the uproar intensified, police swung into action resulting in a ruckus between the two sides.
It is reported that some protesters and a few police personnel were injured.
The meeting which started at 11 am continued for over an hour.
It was agreed that the Manipur Land Reform and Land Revenue (7th Amendment) Bill 2015 and the Manipur Shops and Establishment (2nd Amend- ment) Bill 2015 would be re-examined by experts for reasonable conclusion.
The 18 member delegation was introduced one by one to the Union Home Minister and the purpose of the meeting was explained by Chief Minister O Ibobi and he was supplemented by leaders of different political parties functioning in the State of Manipur.
The Union Home Minister would convene a meeting of all the experts and the Chief Minister of Manipur would be communicated at the earliest, according to the press release.
It further appealed to all the people of Manipur to maintain peace and normalcy.
Meanwhile, MPCC Treasurer K Ranjit told The Sangai Express that the all party delegation would return to Imphal tomorrow.
The all party delegation would be returning to Imphal tomorrow as it would take some more days before an appointment is confirmed with the Prime Minister, Ranjit said.
What transpired during the meeting and the Union Home Minister's comments would be discussed at Imphal together with JCILPS, representatives of different political parties, legal experts, constitutional experts and civil society organisations of both the hills and valley.
Moreover, a memorandum which would be placed before the Prime Minister as and when the all party delegation meets him would be drafted after a consensus is reached with all stake holders.
The particular Bills which is being held back by the President would also be re-examined so that it does not impinge upon the rights and interests of any section of people, Ranjit added.
