Imphal, June 01 2025:
The flood situation in Imphal has crippled inter-district vehicular movement between Imphal East and Imphal West districts, inundating major roads, Government offices, and residential areas.
Flooding has also taken a toll on Imphal East's district administration and healthcare services, with critical Government offices like the DC office complex and JNIMS Hospital at Porompat being severely affected.
Most schools and colleges in the district have also been flooded.

The collapse of the Imphal River embankment at multiple points led to widespread inundation and damage in several areas, including Khurai, Heingang, Khundrakpam, Kshetrigao, Wangkhei, Yaiskul, Thongju, and Keirao Constituencies.
Vehicular movement in the district has also been severely disrupted due to flooding of key roads.
Additionally, a significant portion of JNIMS complex has been inundated, crippling healthcare services.
Residential areas near the Kongba River have also begun flooding as the river overflowed at several locations.
Affected families have been shifted to temporary relief camps in community halls.
Meanwhile, locals at Heingai Mayai Leikai attempted to repair the breached bank of the Imphal River, where a retaining wall's incomplete construction had led to the breach the previous morning.
However, their efforts remained unfinished.
The locals complained that despite authorities inspecting the vulnerable site where the river breached, no preventive measures were taken.
They also alleged that no officials visited the site even after the breach occurred.
Meanwhile, All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) and the Manipuri Students' Federation (MSF) have lent a helping hand in evacuating flood victims at the Porompat TV Tower area.
