Imphal, November 22 2023:
A day after Konsakhul Village Authority condemned Kuki militants for terrorising its villagers, the Liangmai Naga Council, Eastern Zone has echoed the same concern and warned Kuki militants against provoking the Nagas.
In a statement, the Liangmai Naga Council, Eastern Zone said it strongly condemns the act of terror orchestrated by Kuki militants "hand in glove with 30 Assam Rifles" which targeted the indigenous Konsakhul villagers on November 20 .
"Indiscriminate blank firing with automatic heavy weapons in the village and threatening the innocent women and children is a gross violation of human rights.
Therefore, all right thinking citizens of this country should condemn such dastardly acts committed by law enforcing agency, so called the sentinel of the hill people in close collusion with the outlaw organizations," said LNC East Zone.
The Nagas will no longer tolerate any form of harassment of its people and also will not allow anyone to carry out unprovoked attacks or move openly with arms in areas under its jurisdiction.
In the event of any such situation, the LNC Eastern Zone will not remain mute spectators, it said.
The LNC, Eastern Zone also vehemently condemned the attack perpetrated by some unknown miscreants in between Haraothel and Kharam Vaiphei village on November 20 which killed two persons of the Kuki-Zo community.
The council has been tirelessly working for restoration of peace and normalcy in the region.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with those who have been affected by the violence in the State of Manipur during this trying time," it said.
The council stands for peaceful coexistence with all the communities and remains committed to the principle of neutrality in the ongoing communal conflict.
Throughout this difficult situation, the innocent Nagas are often at the receiving end of unabated harassment and assault from both the warring factions, it said.
