Manipuri Students' Federation (MSF) has asserted it will look into those schools under Education (S) which was insisting on payment of fees for May and June months, during which no classes were conducted due to the ethnic violence.
Speaking to media persons at its Kwakei thel Thounaojam Leikai office on Thursday, MSF general secretary Rojit Tekcham recalled that education minister Th Basantakumar announced and extended summer vacation from May 4 to July 4 in phases due to unwanted incidents that occurred since May 3.However, some schools are taking fees from the students for the months of May and June, he pointed out, while urging schools not to exempt fees for the aforementioned months.
It is irrational to levy fees for the said months in view of the tremendous financial problems faced by the people due to the conflict, The government should not also remain as mute spectator, he contended, while urging department concerned to announce their stand in this regard.
He urged to contact MSF helpline number 9863853826 or 9366303924 if any schools under Education (S) took school fees for the two months.
