RPI (Athawale) national secretary Maheshwar Thounaojam on Wednesday met with security advisor Singh as latter's office at Chief Minister's Secretariat and held talks on the prevailing crisis in the state.
Speaking to media persons after meeting the security advisor, Maheshwar informed that he raised poser on why the bodies of two students Linthoingambi and Hemanjit have not been located yet, despite arrest of the suspects by CBI to which Kuldiep responded that one woman is found to be closely involved in the case and search operations conducted by security forces on daily basis including at Leimatak area to recover the bodies at the earliest.
Maheshwar also revealed that on being asked about the armed march past on Independence Day in Churachandpur the security advisor contended that the sophisticated-looking guns were nothing but toy guns.
Maheshwar continued that he also apprised the security advisor on loss of trust of the public in the government, action of security forces during the present crisis, rule of law apparently different in hills and valley, and high handedness of security forces towards protesting students and masses in valley areas.
To this, Kuldiep Singh maintained that search operations are being carried out by security forces in the hills and numerous illegal weapons have been seized, Maheshwar said.
He also conveyed that of suggesting to the security advisor that to regain the trust of people there should be regular briefings on the measures taken up by security forces to address the volatile situation.
On being told that reports have been received that some Kukis are attempting to raze down houses and properties of Meetei community of Moreh using bulldozers, Kuldiep informed that on Tuesday RAF teams have been deputed to Moreh to prevent such acts, if any, on the advice of chief minister N Biren.
Maheshwar said he questioned the security advisor on report by NIA that four Kuki UG groups including KNA, ZRA, KNF and UKLF are involved in the present crisis in state along with pointing out that two of the Kuki groups, namely, KNA and ZRA have signed Suspension of Operation (SoO) agreement with the government.
In response, Kuldiep conceded that SoO bound Kuki militants are involved in the ongoing ethnic clash along with disclosing that during the Khamenlok incident only three cadres of a Kuki UG group which had signed SoO agreement were found at their designated camp.
According to Maheshwar, he had also sent report of violation of SoO ground rules to the centre with the expression that it is up to the government to decide whether or not to revoke the SoO agreement with Kuki militants.
