AMWJU, EGM revoke boycott of CRPF, RAF

All Manipur Working Journalists' Union (AMWJU) and Editors' Guild Manipur (EGM) on Sunday revoked their decision to boycott reporting on civic action programmes and activities of Central Reserved Police Force (CRPF) and Rapid Action Force (RAF) .
In a joint release, AMWJU president Bijoy Kakchingtabam and EGM president Khogendra Khomdram conveyed that an agreement was reached over the issue during a joint meeting of AMWJU, EGM, editors, CRPF Group Centre, Langjing DIG PK Nair and other CRPF officers along with victim members held at Manipur Press Club on Friday.
At the meeting, DIG Nair apologised for the misbehaviour of CRPF and RAF personnel towards media persons and assured that no such incident will be repeated.
He also talked about the importance of cordial relationship between CRPF and media during the meeting, it added.
The release also mentioned that on Sunday a joint meeting of AMWJU, EGM and editors was held to ponder over the matter which then decided to revoke its earlier decision to boycott CRPF and RAF.
It may be mentioned that the decision to boycott the central forces was taken on June 20 after RAF personnel manhandled AMWJU general secretary A Jiten, games & sports secretary M Khagemba and member Ibungo Laish ram at Kakwa as they were returning home on June 16.The decision was reaffirmed following the incident of assault on Union member Haobam Pravinkumar at Khurai and vandalising of house of Union's internal auditor Nabakumar Khagokpam at Khurai Ningthoubung Leikai by RAF personnel on June 23 .
