25th General Conference cum Sports Meet of KKL kicks off

Ukhrul, January 24 2024: The 25th General Conference cum Sports Meet of the Katho Katamnao Long ( KKL) began today amidst fanfare at Nungou Aze village playground under Ukhrul block.

The 8-day event is hosted by Nungou Aze Katamnao Long under the theme 'Heritage of Oneness' and it will continue till January 30, 2024.Central Administrative Officer (CAO) of Wung Tangkhul Region (WTR), Wungnaoyung Sayai and Ngazipmi Chahong Geologist GSI, National Geoscience Awardee graced the inaugural function as the chief guest and guest of honour respectively.

The chief guest hoisted the KKL flag while AS Nganaomi, pioneer of KKL unveiled the monument prior to the commencement of the programme.

Speaking at the inaugural function, W Sayai expressed the need of concerted efforts to work for the welfare of area villages and make them avail the opportunities equally in development programmes in order to bring tangible change in the society.

He urged the youths to shoulder responsibility and contribute in working for the welfare of the society.

He also appealed to all sports persons participating in the meet to display their true sportsmanship.

Addressing the gathering, Ngazipmi Chahong called for unified efforts to strengthen Katho villages through this platform of general conference cum sports meet in order to build a strong society and way forward in achieving all round development.

A total of 17 units and over 815 delegates of KKL are participating in the conference.

The 8-day event will witness various sporting competitions, quiz, debates, extempore and cultural shows competitions etc.

A host of renowned Tangkhul artistes including Thangmeiso Shinglai, Reitimla Khapai and others will perform on Katho Extravaganza nite on January 29 .
