Students, job seekers throng Skill Mela in Ukhrul

The Manipur Society for Skill Development in collaboration with the Ukhrul district administration organised one-day District Skill cum Employment Mela at Townhall, here.
The event drew hundreds of students and young job seekers from across the district.
The Mela was aimed at creating a bridge between the educational needs of the youth and the job market requirements through a platform where industry and the youth meet.
The event provided aspiring participants with insight into verified training providers and facilitated their connection with major employers who are ready to take them on board and provide suitable employment options.
Ukhrul deputy commissioner Kengoo Zuringla, who is the chairperson of the District Skill Committee, attended the job Mela event as the functional president.
In her speech, she reiterated the importance of the skill Mela and her intention to make renovative plans for the event to further ensure its success in the long run.
She encouraged the gathering to make use of this opportunity and visit all the stalls at the event while stressing that the unemployed youth of the district should benefit from this event in some way or another.
Zuringla wished all the best of luck to the gathering and the visitors for their future career endeavours.
As part of the event, the DC released a book titled 'GATEWAY', which is a collection of career opportunities and prospects for various categories of students and job seekers.
She also added that this book was essential for everyone wanting to choose the right career path for success.
Attending the opening ceremony of the Mela as chief guest, LN Kashung, Mission Director of Manipur Society for Skill Development, cautioned, "If our society remains resistant to change, we may eventually be left behind in this increasingly competitive world" .
He stressed the importance of being prepared to fit into and understand jobs that do not even exist today but will emerge ten years down the line.
He also spoke on the importance of skill development and how it could drastically improve the unemployment scenario in our society while pointing out that lack of good and specialised skills is an extremely detrimental factor in a nation's development.
"It is just putting our knowledge into practice by undergoing some vocational training, which will further help in reducing unemployment in society," he said.
The 28 major partners in the event, focused on promoting employment among the youth, were from both government and private sectors.
CIPET (for training programs in plastic processing), NEILIT (for technical training in solar and electrical).
MSRLM (Rural Livelihood Mission), DDU GKY (Deen Dayal Upad-hyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana), URA TRUST (for Competitive Exams Awareness), SIHM (hospitality), and JCRE SKILL SOLUTION (for providing Mason and Plumber related skills) were the government partners.
EMPORIUM Nagaland (for aviation and hospitality), Go Aviators (for cabin crew and ground staff training), and KP Philanthropy (for training in tailoring) were some of the private sectors present.
Similarly, JOB THIMINASI, UDCRMS, and KVK were there to provide multisector skill training, while Assam Rifles were there to provide recruitment awareness.
The exhibition of local products like Zingran foods, Shirin Products, Amachi Handloom, Soyam foods, Shonthui foods, and Wino Weaving Cooperative Society were also conducted as part of the event.
The event was attended by DFO Shanngam S, ADC CEO David Kashungnao, ADM Nimmi Azingwungshi Khamrang, SDO Ukhrul Suranjoy Singh, SDO LM and AC to DC Rohini Kumar, SDO Jesami P Duna Duo, Informatics Officer Raimison WS, and state analyst - Northeast State Engagement Officer from National Skill Development Corporation Masot Zimik.
