"Fasting in prayers" campaign enters 10th day

Imphal, August 04 2023: "Fasting in prayers and social action" campaign which began on July 26 last at Brahmapur Youth Club (YCB) under the banner of Brahmapur Seva Sangh (BSS) in Brahmapur Aribam Leikai, Imphal East entered its tenth day on Friday.

In a release, BSS informed that the organizer of the campaign has decided to suspend the day-long sit-in fasting in prayer on the 10th day, to get into social action activities in response to the present crisis situation by continuing to fast during the day time till the Central Government stops all kinds of killings and violent activities across ethnic communities in Manipur.

It mentioned that altogether 75 persons from the local community and different places in India visited the fasting site to participate and express solidarity with the local initiative.

BSS also shared that national leaders and local members of Ekta Parishad, Manipur, youth members, civil society and peace activists from different places of Manipur and rest of India like Qarwan-e-Mohobat, members of Interfaith Forum for Peace and Harmony Manipur (IFPH) also visited the venue in solidarity and attended series of reflections and discussions on the current situation of Meetei community and Manipur to explore innovative ways of interventions.

BSS further stated that the social action activities will involve educational initiative for moral education, healing mission and social awareness of the conflict situation for appropriate responses without resorting to violence.
