Grassroots Football Coaching Programme kicks off in Ukhrul

Ukhrul, June 09 2018:
A Grassroots Football Coaching Programme being organised by Yarkhok United FC under the supervision of All Manipur Football Association (AMFA) was launched today at Awontang Shimva Community Hall, Ukhrul by M Ratan, convener of AMFA technical committee who attended the inaugural function as chief guest.
Chaobi Devi; Shangreiso A Shimray, president of Ukhrul District Sports Association; Phami Vasha, Junior Lecturer DYASO Ukhrul etc also attended the inaugural function of the coaching programme which will be held for one year as guests.
Speaking on the occasion, M Ratan highlighted the importance of such grassroots level coaching programme.
Ratan said that the coaching programme will help in tapping budding footballers from across the district which will in turn play a huge role in developing the sports scenario of the district and the Nation at large.
Ratan also urged the organisers to give special attention to the orphanage and physically weak participants.
Chaobi Devi who attended the function as one of the guests of honours encouraged the young players to take part in the coaching camp wholeheartedly and full dedication so that they could become famous sportspersons in the future.
Chaobi further said that sports not only connect people and strengthen the bonds but also a way to earn respect and honour.
She also appealed the parents and the guardians of the participants to extend full supports to their wards.
Thangsomi Ruivah of Yarkhok United FC who is also a grassroots leader said that the main objective of organising district level grassroots football programme is to explore sporting talents from right time.
The coaching programme will not only confine to physical training but will also emphasise in mental development areas and maintenance of discipline, he said.
The coaching programme will be different from professional coaching programme but it will surely motivate the children to enjoy the sport, he continued.
The coaching programme will be held on every Friday and Saturday for one year at Mission Ground Alungtang, Ukhrul and is being participated by 50 players within the age of 6-14 years.
Wungngayam Muirang, a resident of Ukhrul, who is currently playing for Pune FC (reserve team) was also felicitated on the occasion.
All Manipur Football Association also donated 10 footballs for the coaching programme.
