AR archery team prevails over the rest

The 24th Senior and 28th Junior Manipur State Archery Championship 2013 which finally concluded today witnessed Assam Rifles Archery team (ARAT) prevailing over all teams, by winning each event hands down.
By the end of the tournament, total tally of ARAT stood at 10 Gold, 09 Silver and 05 Bronze medals including both the coveted team event medals of Indian as well as Compound round which were won by them.
Beginning with Indian Round of the Championship, the team grabbed 04 Gold, 05 Silver and 02 Bronze medals including the medal for overall best performance in team event.
The team had only one participant in Junior Category.
He alone bagged 02 Silver and 01 Bronze medal in all the three events he participated, in the recurve round ARAT almost swept all the medals including 05 Gold, 04 Silver and 03 Bronze medals out of the fifteen medals which were at stake.
In the Compound Division, the team was again awarded with the most coveted-Team Gold medal.
Individuals who performed outstandingly include, Rifleman M Sunder Singh, 03 Gold medals, Rifleman H Bijender Singh 03 Silver and Rifleman Ch Harichandra Singh with 02 Silver and 02 Bronze medals in Indian round while in recurve round Rifleman Sh Sanatomba Singh clinched 03 Gold, Rifleman Th Sanayaima Singh, 01 Gold, Havildar N Subhachandra Meitei 03 Silvers and Rifleman H Bidyajit secured 02 Bronze medals.
Brigadier M K Das, SM**, VSM, Commander 9 Sector Assam Rifles, graced the closing ceremony of the championship and complimented the participants.
He also donated Rs.5,000/- to Manipur Archery Association for the improvement of facilities to Archers.
Meanwhile, Major General Rajeev Chopra, Inspector General Assam Rifles (South) has complimented ARAT team as well as individuals for their astounding performance and wished them luck in their future endeavors.
Next in line, the team would be participating in the National Level Archery Competition to be held at Jabalpur during the current month.
