Imphal, November 03 2013:
In connection with the incident in which a woman was found hanging and died later at Chingamakha Maisnam Leikai under Singjamei police station, a joint action committee has been constituted and the JAC has been contending that Maisnam (N) RK (O) Janeshori did not hang herself but her husband Sanatomba hung her after killing her in connivance with some other people.
Speaking to media persons at Keishampat Leimajam Leikai, the birth place of Janeshori this afternoon, H Shyamkanhai, convenor of the JAC Against the Unnatural Death of Moirangthem Janeshori claimed that wounds seen on Janeshori's body indicated that hers was not a case of suicide.
Although it was claimed that Janeshori died after she was found hanging at around 2 pm, her parental family was informed only at 6/7 pm.
In case, Singjamei police station does not act swiftly and initiate necessary actions, the JAC would launch all kinds of agitation in association civil society organisations of the State, Shyamkanhai said.
He went on to question Singjamei police's reported flip-flop of arresting and not arresting Sanatomba.
The JAC has been restraining itself from launching agitation in view of Ningol Chakkouba festival.
Nevertheless, JAC would launch any kind of agitation after Ningol Chakkouba festival, if necessary.
Notably, Janeshori's last rites have been already performed at her parental home.
