Imphal, October 06 2018:
Manipur wrapped up the Vijay Hazare Trophy campaign losing by 68 runs to Meghalaya at Motibaug Cricket Ground, Vadodara today.
Manipur had to rue their decision to field first as fine batting and bowling performances by Meghalaya players shattered Manipur's dream of fine finish at the competition.
Yogesh Nagar's knock of 67 runs in 79 balls after Punit Bisht 57-ball 58 on the back of 9 fours helped Meghalaya off to a good start.
Babloo Passaha (37 off 74 balls) and Guringder Singh (36 off 57 balls) also contributed well to help Meghalaya post a target of 238 runs for 5 wickets in 50 overs.
Manipur's Jitendra managed a three wicket haul in this innings while Shelly Shourya and Somorjit picked up one wicket each.
In the chase, Manipur had a disastrous start and wickets fell in quick succession before the innings ended with a paltry score of 170 run in 45.4 over.
Yashpal Singh was the only serious player who hit his third century for Manipur (106 off 108 balls) at this competition today while other players had to return to the pavilion with single digit scores or ducked.
Lakhan Singh of Meghalaya led the bowling attack and secured the figures of 3/24 while Gurinder Singh and Mark Ingty dismissed two wickets apiece tearing apart Manipur's batting line up.
Abhay Negi and Dippu also picked up one wicket each in this innings to help Meghalaya secure a huge 68 runs victory.
