Imphal, December 22:
A gritty knock of 54 off 143 balls and four wickets by Ibobi helped defending champions BYWA secure maximum points against SRYC (Seniors) in a Super Six League tie of the Pongal Cricket Tournament 2004 at Moreh today.
Opting to bat first, SRYC managed to score 166 in the 30 over match as BYWA pace trio of Chindadurai, Hari Krishnan and Ibobi himself gave little time to settle for SRYC batsmen.
At one stage SRYC were tottering at 61/5 in the 15th over before the sixth wicket pair of Peter Paul (37) and Jaivel (24) rescued the side for the respectable total that included 42 extras.
Ibobi took four wickets with Palnivel and Krishnan sharing four SRYC scalps.
The BYWA run chase ran into rough weather as wickets tumbled at regular interval before Ibobi's arrival as number six batsman took the sting away from the bowling side.
