State Karatekas win 1 gold, 4 bronze in International Championship

Imphal, September 24 2014:
Six ISKF-Kanglei Shito Ryu Karatekas and officials of Manipur Amateur Karate-Do Association (MAKA), who were among Indian contingent, brought home one gold, four bronze medals from the 5th Open International Karate Championship held at Regional Stadium, Dhangadhi, Nepal from September 14 to 16, 2014 .
A press release issued by General Secretary, MAKA stated that S Bindeshori of Changangei Mayai Leikai won one gold medal in Women open Kata and another bronze in Open Kumite event.
Other bronze medalists are M Kumudini Chanu in 15-18 yrs, -55 kgs Kumite; E Mangi in Senior -70 kgs and Th Shyam in Team Kumite.
A reception ceremony of the state players was held at the main dojo of ISKF-Kanglei Shito Ryu Karate-do Manipur today, it added.
It further stated that, Nepal bagged first position while the 37-member Indian team stood in 2nd position.
Bangladesh, Bhutan and Pakistan went to 3rd, 4th and 5th position respectively.
Industry Minister of Nepal, Karna Bahadur Thapa handed over the runners-up trophy to Sensei Mutum Bankim, who is the chief representative of the Indian team.
