Imphal, September 24 2014:
Rather than voting based on which party is in power at the Centre, people should vote for MPP which is more focused on local issues and make Hiyanglam by-election the harbinger of a new revolution, said MPP president N Sovakiran.
Speaking to media persons at their office today, Sovakiran recalled that Congress party which was in power for decades was totally rejected by the people of the country in the last Lok Sabha election.
He appealed to the people of Hiyanglam A/C to vote for MPP, the only regional party of Manipur rather than voting for the political party which is in power at the Centre.
After handing over nomination forms A and B to the party's candidate M Amutombi, Sovakiran said that a political revolution has swept across the country reinstating several regional parties to power in different States.
Even in other States where national parties are still in power, a strong political wind is blowing in these State in favour of regional parties.
Even though Manipur is plagued by several issues like Inner Line Permit System, AFSPA, border dispute etc, no national parties can take any decisive decision without the knowledge of their party high commands.
MPP does not have any such weakness.
It has the capability to put into action all the common aspirations of the people, claimed Sovakiran.
MPP has full faith that people of Hiyanglam A/C would repose their confidence in MPP and make the by-election the first step of a revolutionary change in Manipur.
In case, MPP wins the by-election, the party would transform all major issues of the State into political issues.
Hiyanglam A/C, situated close to Loktak Lake, has abundant natural resources but people cannot derive any meaningful benefits due to indifference of the the successive MLAs.
Human resource development in Hiyanglam A/C is relatively backward.
There is water all around but not a single drop of potable water.
Amutombi said that Hiyanglam A/C would see some substantial changes if he is elected to Manipur Legislative Assembly.
