Imphal, September 24 2014:
On the occasion of the 36th Raising Day of the banned People's Liberation Army (PLA), the President of proscribed Revolutionary People's Front (RPF) Irengbam Chaoren has conveyed its deepest respect to the people of Manipur and offered revolutionary salute to its cadres who laid down their lives for the cause of revolutionary movement.
In its message, the President of RPF said that the Second World War brought the end of colonialism in many colonised nations and countries, but many other nations missed this historical opportunity and they are still struggling for independence.
The armed revolutionary movement of Syria, Basque Nationality Movement in Spain, Zapastita Movement in Mexico, Latin American people's struggle against US dominance, Tamil Nationality Movement in Sri Lanka, Maoists Movement in India, the question of Kashmir nationality, numerous liberation movements of Western South East Asia (WESEA) are some of the major contemporary anti-imperialist movements, the message added.
Citing Manipur as one of the nations which regained its sovereignty at the end of the Second World War, the message recalled that Manipur started its first experiment with modern representative government by drafting a democratic constitution.
'But it was nipped in the bud when Manipur was merged into India on September 21 in 1949', it alleged.
'It is national tragedy that different sections of Manipuri people have different interpretations and perspectives on the ongoing liberation movement', it asserted, while saying that India quickly bred a comprador class which eventually take refuge in Indian electoral politics and join hands with their masters in looting invaluable natural resources of WESEA.
Alleging that Government of India has been conspiring to construct mega dams over the precious rivers with the help of external funding agencies like the Asian Development Bank to generate power not for the benefit of our people but to extract maximum profit, the RPF message mentioned that Tipaimukh and four other dams for which a memorandum of understanding was signed between Manipur government and NEEPCO in August this year would not bring any meaningful development to people except opening a big opportunity for foreign companies to earning huge profits.
India in collaboration with many multi-national companies and agencies has been over exploiting all the hydro-carbon and hydel resources of Manipur since the past decade under its neo-liberal economic policy, it claimed.
Claiming that the comprador class has been relentlessly working to project the liberation movement as something implausible bereft of legitimacy, the president's message said they have been scheming to confuse the mass by popularising such terms like 'misguided youths' or 'anti-social elements' for revolutionary cadres.
"Surrender or 'home-coming' ceremonies and suspension of operation pacts are some common elements of the propaganda machinery oiled and sustained to project the revolutionary movement in bad light and create a disconnect between the revolutionaries and people", it added.
"Deployment of additional security forces in hill areas, imposition of AFSPA or CrPC 144 and hill-valley polarization are being promoted by the ruling elites to sustain their power politics at the cost of common men", the message charged.
Strongly condemning the militarization of Ukhrul denizens, the message cited that people of both the hills and valley have been living in the shadow of heavy militarization.
Terming globalization as a serious threat to many small nations, the message said that the only escape route from these serious threats is sovereignty, self-reliance and egalitarianism.
