20 Assam Rifles organised a lecture to sensitize the young students about drug abuse at Maha Union High School, Chandel yesterday, said a press release issued by the HQ IGAR (S) .
The lecture was delivered by the Medical Officer of 20 Assam Rifles.
He explained the students how one gets addicted to drugs, its ill effects on individual and side effects on his or her family and measures to control and get rid of it.
About 150 students and teachers attended the lecture and also cleared their doubts during the interaction session.
In another endeavour, an "Open Theme" painting competition was held at "Catch Them Young" Larong Khullen Government School yesterday by the same unit .
About 30 students participated in the event.
The competition was planned with an aim to bring out talent of the students.
It was the platform to express their views and build up their ideas through paintings.
Prizes were awarded to first three best paintings, the release added.
