MPSC top XI Star 2-0 to win 7th Ksh Nonigopal Memorial Football tourney title

Manipur Police Sports Club (MPSC) cruised to the title of the 7th Ksh Nonigopal Memorial Invitation Football Tournament, 2018-19 by beating Eleven Star Sporting Union, Akampat in the final today.
The final match of the tournament was witnessed by Robert Singh Kshetrimayum, DC, Jiribam; M Mubi Singh, SP, Jiribam District Police; RK Nobinsana Singh, Pradhan Dibong GP; H Basulal Singh, Addl SP, Jiribam; Th Ibotombi Singh, Retd Asst Director SAI, Imphal; M Tilok Singh, Superintendent Youth Affairs & Sports Office, Jiribam; Th Jiten Meetei; Kh Promila Devi, Donor of the tournament as presidium members.
The tournament organised by All Jiribam Sports Association (AJSA), Jiribam at Jiribam Higher Secondary School playground was participated by a total of 12 teams.
MPSC dominated possession in both half of the enthralling final match but XI Star SU got the first real chance when they got a penalty kick which but missed as the woodwork was not on their side.
MPSC finally had the lead when H Dayananda coolly dispatched a penalty kick awarded in the 36th minute of the match and made it 1-0 at the break.
XI Star SU mounted pressure on MPSC in the second half as they thrive hard to find the equaliser but their condition went from bad to worse when Boboysana of MPSC doubled their lead in the 71st minute.
XI Star SU made all efforts to reduce the gap in the latter part but time eventually and had to contend with the runners up title.
MPSC were feted with prize money of Rs 50,000 and a trophy on the occasion while runners up XI Star SU got Rs 30,000.MPSC's Saokhosei, Joseph Vaniel and K Benjamin were respectively named as best player, best keeper and best defender and were awarded with Rs 1,000 each while H Romesh of XI Star SU emerged highest scorer to bag Rs 1,000 .
