AR felicitates Latika Bhandari

The 40th Assam Rifles of 9 Sector AR under IGAR (South) headquarters organised a felicitation ceremony to honour Miss Latika Bhandari, who had brought laurels to 40 Assam Rifles by representing India in Taekwondo during the recently conducted 17th Asian Games at Incheon, South Korea, at the Assam Rifles Senior Secondary School, Keithelmanbi today.
The occasion was graced by Brigadier V T Mathew, Commander, 9 Sector Assam Rifles.
Miss Latika Bhandari won her first match against opponent from Kazakhstan but unfortunately lost in the Quarter finals after a competitive bout against Korean opponent.
She has previously won Gold Medal at 5th Commonwealth Taekwondo Championship in 2011, Silver Medal at 11th South Asian Games in 2010 and Bronze Medal at 21st Asian Taekwondo Championship.
Appreciating the efforts of Miss Latika, Commander 9 Sector Assam Rifles said that complete Assam Rifles family is proud of her.
He further motivated all the young students of AR school to take inspiration from her and work hard to fulfil their goals and achieve success in their life.
Meanwhile, the 24 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) organised a lecture on "Cancer- Causes and Preventive Measures" at Community Hall of Sita Village on October 9. The programme was attended by 62 locals to include women and children of Sita village.
