Diver Ramananda wins gold

After creating a new national record in 1 metre spring board diving, Manipur's young diver Kongbrailatpam Ramananda of Manipur has won another gold in the 3 metre spring board diving in the ongoing 30th National Sub-Junior Aquatic Championship at SAG swimming complex at Campal,Goa today,reports reaching here said.
The championship is being organized by Goa Swimming Association under the auspices of Swimming Federation of India from June 20 to 23 .
In today's performance, Ramananda won gold in 3 metre spring board competition by scoring 470 points.
Sixteen year old Ramananda, a resident of Chingmeirong Mamang Leikai in Manipur's Imphal East district set the record in the 1 metre Spring Board diving event on the first day of the champ on June 20 .
With 475.30 points, he broke the previous national record created by Bilas Patel of Maharashtra (470 points) in 1997 .
Currently a Services diver, Ramananda won many medals in the recently concluded 39th Junior Asian Aquatic Championship (July1-5, 2012) besides winning the gold medal in 3 metre spring board event in the 7th AASF Asian Age Group Championships at Jakarta last year.
The youngest child of Rajbihari and Ranjana, a resident of Chingmeirong Mamang Leikai in Imphal, he enrolled at the Army Sports Institute in Pune at the age of 8 years and is presently training at the institute under the guidance of a Cuban coach.
