State craftsmen honoured with awards

Imphal, June 22 2013 :
Directorate of Commerce and Industries honoured 10 distinguished craftsmen with State awards, 12 other with merit awards and another 30 craftsmen with inspiration awards.
The awards were handed over in a function held at Iboyaima Shumang Leela Shanglen today.
The State award winners for the year 20120-13 are Thokchom Pratika (hand embroidery), Elany Newme (bamboo and cane), Ireng-bam Bilshini (doll and toys) Ningthoujam Ingoba (papier machi doll and toys), Ningombam Bishorjit (wood carving), Angom Ongbi Kamala (kouna craft), Loitongbam Tilotama (artistic textiles), Arunapyari Salam (hand block printing), Khomdram Ongbi RK Babita (dance and costume), Leisha-ngthem Jayanta (iron craft) .
The award included cash prize of Rs 20000 and a citation each.
Merit award winners are Md Nasiruddin (hand embroidery), Chithung Maungai (cane and bamboo), Oinam Ibotombi (doll and toys), Athokpam Laxna (wood carving), Loitongbam Shitaljit (wood carving), I Thomas (wood carving), Najima (kouna craft), Shimreichon Langhu (artistic textile), Konjengbam Shangomnou (decorative piece), Gurumayum Goshwami (jewellery), Keisham Shashi (brass and bell metal), Amina Begum (lashing phee) .
The merit award comprised of Rs 8000 and a citation each.
Winners of inspiration award that comprised of Rs 5000 and a citation each are Chandam Sunolata, Khuman-them Pramoda, Sinam Memcha, Longjam Ibemcha, Nepram Sunita, Khumanthem Medhabati, Hemam Robin, Kshetrimayum Ibocha, Mayanglambam Sumati, Sorokhaibam Ongbi Sushila, Ningombam Kalachand, RK Joykumar, Wangkheirakpam Modhuchandra, Siamminthang Kullai, Shinglai Sothem, G Poupanlu Rangmei, Brahmachari-mayum Ongbi Binokumari, Khunumayum Apabi, Phanjoubam Dinachandra, Shamjetsabam Kamala, Chingtham Loyalakpi, Ashok Tonjam, Pebam Nimaichand, Salam Premila, Gurumayum Memcha, Aheibam Manao-macha, Carelya Lallawzuel, Lalhlimmawi, D Marung and L Ongbi Khomei.
Sagolband AC MLA E Chand, Commerce and Industries Principal Secretary O Nabakishore, Director B John and Art and Culture Director B Sobita attended the function.
S Birendra's book, 'Khu-tsaheibalaktagi' was released in the function.
Sahitya Akademi awardee Saratchand Thiyam reviewed the book.
