Imphal, June 22 2013 :
MLA of Heingang Assembly Constituency N Biren has said that the people of Manipur lack civic sense and this has been a major factor for State's backwardness.
He was speaking as Chief Guest of a meritorious award distribution function organized by Human Resource Development Organization (HRDO) at Kontha Ahallup Awang Leikai Community Hall here today.
Biren further said that some people try to be ostentatious by buying cars after selling off their agricultural plots, but their attitude would only drive the State to "Stone Age".
Moreover, people's ignorance on financial management is also a setback in the development of the State, he noted.

The MLA also appealed to the youths not to depend only on government, but take up new things of their own to bring about socioeconomic development in the State.
Altogether 50 meritorious students were presented gifts and cash prizes during the function.
