AR conducts State archery championship

Continuing with its efforts to promote sports and support young sports persons in Manipur, the Assam Rifles conducted Manipur Inter Club Archery Championship at Keithelmanbi.
The event was organised by 9 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (South) from March 10 to 12 .
According to a statement issued by the PRO of IGAR (S), a total of 53 archers from 12 different archery clubs registered under Manipur Archery Association participated in the championship and showcased their skills in Indian, Compound and Recurve categories.
In the keenly contested finals, Th Langamba of Southern Imphal Centre for Archery (SICA), N Arjun of SICA and G Chuichui of Sports Authority of India Recreation Club (SAI RC) emerged as winners in Indian, Compound and Recurve categories respectively.
Major General Virendra Singh, VSM, Inspector General Assam Rifles (South) presided over the finals and closing ceremony of the championship.
The IG felicitated the gold, silver and bronze medallists in each category and encouraged all participants to excel in sports and aim to bring laurels for the country in their future endeavours.
He also appreciated the dedication and hard work of the archers and highlighted the rich tradition of sports in Manipur and assured maximum possible help and support for the budding sports talent in the State.
The championship is conducted every year to provide a platform to young archers of Manipur to showcase their skills and excel in the sport.
Brig JS Bainsla, Commander, 9 Sector Assam Rifles and BK Sharma, secretary, Manipur Archery Association also witnessed the finals and encouraged the young archers, it added.
