Farmers' training programme

Skill development training programme on organic farming organised by CSIR-NEIST was held today at the institute located at Lamphelpat.
The programme was graced by Dr Lokho Puni, Chief Conservator of Forest, Government of Manipur, Dr DS Yadav, Assistant Director, Regional Centre of Organic Farming, Lamphelpat, Dr V Pandey, Scientific Officer, Regional Centre of Organic Farming, Lamphelpat, P Devkanta, national awardee and president of AMAPCON and Dr H Birkumar Singh, Principal Scientist, CSIR-NEIST, Lamphelpat as presidium members.
Speaking at the programme, Dr Lukho Puni said, "With the changing environment, uses of chemical fertilizers are increasing day by day which in turn increase health risks.
Organic farming will not only cut the risks of health hazard caused by chemical fertilizers but also helps in maintaining environment and conservation of wildlife and natural habitats" .
