Imphal, March 18 2017:
Congratulating the newly formed Government led by BJP in the State, three civil society organisations based in Ukhrul requested the Chief Minister to make necessary arrangements to induct one of the elected NPF MLAs from Ukhrul preferably an educated one into his Cabinet in the interest of bringing justice to the people of the district and giving equal distribution of power and development for overall development of the State.
In a joint press release, Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong, Tangkhul Naga Zingsho Longphang and Tangkhul Naga Aze Longphang said the people of Ukhrul district have great expectation from the BJP-led Government for all round development of all people living in the State considering Prime Minister Modi's vision for "Saabka Saath, Saabka Vikas" .
Ukhrul district has been lagging far behind other districts of the State in terms of development as the outgoing Congress Government which ruled the State for the last 15 years treated the district with step-motherly attitude, it lamented.
In fact, the people of Ukhrul failed to enjoy the fruits of development with no appointment/induction of any elected representatives from the district for the last 20 consecutive years, it mentioned.
The bodies urged the Central and State NPF leadership to take right decision and corrective measure in distribution of portfolio based on the performance of the party and support of the people to the party in the recently held 11th State Assembly election in which the people of Ukhrul elected two NPF MLAs.
We will resort to any kind of agitation and protest if corrective measure is not taken at the earliest by the concerned parties to induct one of the elected MLAs in the Council of Ministers from the district, it cautioned.
