The World Karate Championship would be held at Shiv Chatrapati Sports Complex here, four years from now, International Karate-do Gojukai Association announced here today.
''Pune would host the 2013 world championship,'' President, International Karate-do Gojukai Association and chief of world karate body, Goshi Yamaguchi Hanshi said at the conclusion of a four-day camp and a technical seminar here in which over 800 children took part.
The 66th All India Gojukai Karate-Do Camp and a Technical Seminar to Commemorate Kaiso Gogen Yamaguchi's birth centenary was organised at Balewadi for students of All India Gojukai Karate institute of India.
The President of All India Gojukai Karate-do, Kyoshi Vispy Kapadia, while briefing the media, revealed that the institute has introduced free training for police department of Mumbai.
There has been a special training combat for the police cell including crime Branch and women police.
Being the chief coach of the karate training, Kapadia has been training Maharashtra State and Mumbai City police for the past 29 years.
A 50 member squad of the Mumbai City police Force will also be trained in Kobudo and unarmed combat, he said.
With branches in 60 countries, the International Karate-Do Gojukai Association has taught and trained the students in the finer aspects of Kata and Kumite technics, said its President Seiko Shihan Goshi Yamaguchi Hanshi, a Red Belt.
The institution has trained forty to fifty thousand students from all over at the grassroot level.Yamaguchi, a red belt holder, along with Shin Tsukii, Kanzaki Masayuki and Kengo Yamada, taught and trained the students in finer aspects of kata (choreographed movements) and kumite (sparring) techniques in the camp conducted by the the All India Gojukai Karate-do.
