Talking to Hueiyen Lanpao, coaches Ng Radhapyari and S Anita Chanu expressed confidence that Manipur Taekwondo players would bring home at least 4 gold medals from the National Games this time.
Although Manipur Taekwondo players secured 8 gold medals, one silver medal and 3 bronze medals in the National Games hosted by Assam in 2007, in the last edition of the Games held at Jharkhand, they could win just 6 medals including one gold medal, two silver medals and three bronze medals.
This was due to the fact that players in other States started using electronic equipments during training by then.
So, Manipur Taekwondo players who did not have accessed to such sophisticated equipments performed dismally.
But this time, special care has been given in their training and they are expected to do well, the two coaches added.
