PYYDA clinch 1st PYPC trophy

PYYDA, Pangei clinched the 1st PYPC Trophy, seven-a-side football tournament organised by Pungdongbam Youth Physical Club (PYPC) at PYPC playground.
In today's final, PYYDA, Pangei edged past Mangal AFA, Kontha by a margin of 3 goals to two.
The match began with PYYDA's Kumar scoring the opening goal in the 11th minute but Mangal AFA bounced back after Emerson found the equaliser in the 12th minute.
Minutes later, PYYDA again took the lead in the 17th minute from Jackson.
After the interval, Adsion slotted in the third goal for PYYDA in the 72nd minute to take a comfortable 3-1 lead.
Minutes later, Magal AFA's Kiran scored in the 76th minute to read the scoeline 3-2 .
Mangal players fought back hard to come back into the match but failed to beat the PYYDA defenders who stood firm till the final whistle.
Akalu and Kumar of PYYDA were cautioned for unsporting behaviour during the match.
A cash prize of Rs 10,000 and Rs 7000 along with a rolling trophy were awarded to the team champion PYYDA and runner up team Mangal AFA.
The best disciplined team went to PYPC, Pungdongbam along with a cash prize of Rs 2000 .
Top scorer, best goalkeeper and best player winners were awarded a cash prize of Rs 1000 each.
A toal of 16-team participated in the tournament which began from January 18 .
The closing ceremony was graced by Lamlai A/C MLA Ksh Biren, Forest Department Range Officer A Iboyaima and Pungsongbam GP Pradhan I Prem Meitei as chief guest, president and guest of honour.
