Moreh town remains cut off for the second day

Vehicular movement along the Imphal-Moreh section of National Highway 102 was paralysed for the second day today due to the indefinite bandh called by the villagers of Tengnoupal.
Border trade at Nampha-long in Myanmar was also affected by the bandh.
The bandh is being spearheaded by the Kuki Women Human Rights Organization, Tengnoupal Block along with the Kuki Students' Organisation, Chandel district.
Large number of bandh supporters, most of them women, blocked the Imphal -Moreh highway at Teng- noupal village and kept strict vigil throughout the night and prohibited vehicular movement including two-wheeler vehicles.
Churachandpur DC Lun-minthang Haokip who was on his way to his Moreh residence was sent back to Imphal by bandh supporters today.

However, there has been no report of any untoward incident during the bandh.
Meanwhile, Kuki civil bodies of Chandel district held a joint meeting at Tengnoupal Village Authority office today.
During the meeting, the Kuki civil bodies unanimously resolved to intensify the agitation until or unless the 24 Assam Rifles is shifted from Chandel district.
Moreover, the civil bodies also appealed to all concerned to extend cooperation.
The joint meeting was attended by the leaders Kuki Chiefs Association, KSO, TSA, HTC and Kuki Women Human Rights Organisation.
The indefinite bandh was called in protest against alleged harassment of civilians, particularly villagers of Tengnoupal by Assam Rifles personnel posted at Tengnoupal.
