Bandh calls off, JAC gives 15 days for probe

The Joint Action Committee against Khadangban killing has called off its proposed 24-hr General Strike after the state Government assured to look into its demands on Saturday.
Speaking to media persons, Convenor of the JAC Thangminlen Haokip said that Deputy CM Gaikhangam assured that institute a magisterial enquiry would be conducted into the killing of Khupneilal Neihsial and Robert Hesei by 8 Assam Rifles on January 28 at Khadangband bridge.
However, the magisterial enquiry is to be conducted for a period of two months which is not acceptable.
So, the JAC has given 15 days to the Government for conducting the probe, Thangminlen informed.
If the magisterial enquiry is not completed within 15 days, the JAC will launch various agitation, warned Thangminlen.
Meanwhile, Thangminlen said that the dead bodies of Khupneilal Neihsial and Robert Hesei will be claimed in the light of the assurances given by the Government.
