Imphal, March 16 2015:
Power-Grid has completed stringing the Silchar-Imphal transmi-ssion line between Assam and Manipur with an initial capacity of 132 KV voltage out of the 400 KV specification.
With the line charged yesterday, Manipur will now be able to draw its power share from Pallatana Gas based power plant in Tripura directly through the National grid and will have a solid electrical connectivity with the rest of the country, said a statement issued by PowerGrid today.

The 167 km long line passes through tough geographical area with deep valleys and steep hills (altitude of up to 1200 metres), said the statement and added that the task could be achieved only with the unstinting support of the Government of Manipur, people of Manipur and the Union Ministry of Power.
