Inter-village feud

Imphal, March 16 2015:
Three houses and two vehicles belonging to Kangchup Chiru villagers were dismantled allegedly by neighbouring villagers in a reported land dispute between the two neighbouring villages.
According to sources, the incident occurred around 7 am today when villagers of Kangchup Makhom attacked Kangchup Chiru village under Sapermeina PS in Senapati district.
Besides dismantling three houses and two four-wheeler vehicles, six Kangchup Chiru villagers including three women suffered injuries.
The injured persons are undergoing treatment at RIMS.
The dismantled houses belong to Danilien, Khunoding and R Tomba.
The injured persons in the reported attack are Romila (27) w/o Siknikhok; Chekneikim (27) w/o Larmeiding; Akip (39) w/o David; Khunding (55) s/o (L) Daridoi; Danibung (54) s/o (L) Danikung and Achung (25) s/o Khunoding.
A Wagon-R car (AS-01-W-1455) and a Maruti Van (AS-01-AG4462) were damaged in the attack, the sources said.
A police force led by Additional SP (Senapati), OC of Sapermeina PS and OC of Lamshang police commando rushed to the spot to take stock of the situation.
At the same time, representatives of various civil society organisations also met the villagers.
Meanwhile, terming the incident as unfortunate, president of Kuki Inpi, Kangchup area, Letngam Haokip appealed to both the warring villages to settle the inter-village feud amicably immediately.
He also urged the Govt to act and prevent further damage.
