The people of Abungchiang (Nagaching-2) village under Tamenglong sub-division have been reportedly living under the grip of Malarial outbreak since 2003 with the State Govt and its Medical Dept looking the other way.
According to a statement issued by the president of Abungchiang (Nagaching-2) Students� Union Hoineilung Kamei, so far 17 persons have lost their lives from Malarial epidemic due to lack of adequate health care facilities in the remote village within a span of two years, i.e.from 2003 to November 2005 The majority of the victims are children and womenfolks, the statement said, adding that it is indeed unfortunate and ironical that lives continued to be lost from Malaria infection even in the 21st century.
