Setting into motion the official process for holding the election of Manipur People�s Party�s president post, scheduled for December 11 the party�s State Returning Officer today issued election notification.
Soon after the activation of the poll process, two party members obtained nomination papers and submitted the same this afternoon.
The notification stipulates prospective presidential candidates to obtain nomination papers with immediate effect and submission of the same from 11 am to 3 pm of December 2.Candidates who submitted their nomination papers to contest for the post of the 12th president of the MPP are party�s present general secretary (administration) Kshetrimayum Brajamani of Kongpal Naoroibam Leikai and central committee member AK Sanaton of Singjamei Wangma Kshetri leikai.
Sanaton is also a working committee member of the party.
While MPP vice president Md Ashraf Iboton proposed Sanaton�s candidature along with ten party members information who was Brajamani�s proposer could not be confirmed till late evening.
As per the notification, scrutiny would be conducted on December 3 (11 am), last date for accepting nomination papers fixed the next day till 4 pm and voting hours in between 12 noon to 3 pm with the result to be declared the same evening.
The general conference of the party would be prior to commencement of voting.
according to the SRO M Binodkumar voting rights to elect the 12th president would be exercised by delegates from 29 kendras, two central committee members, presidents of respective kendras, nominees and party�s legislature wing leader.
The total number of accountable votes would be 236.He also informed that appointment of presiding and polling officers would be effected on December 10.
