The State Government has earmarked a sum of Rs 27 lakhs for erecting an �Integrity Pillar� at the Kekrupat memorial of the 18 martyrs who laid down their lives during the June 18 uprising of 2001 against extension of limitless ceasefire signed bet- ween the Government of India and the NSCN (I-M) to the territory of Manipur.
Disclosing this to The Sangai Express, an official source informed a sum of Rs 27 lakhs has been earmarked by the Government for the purpose of erecting an Integrity Pillar at Kekrupat, where the memorial dedicated to the 18 martyrs who laid down their lives for the sake of protecting the territorial integrity of Manipur has been set up.
The Government would be sanctioning the said amount through Kangla Fort Board as Grant-in-Aid during the current 2005-06 budgetary period for setting the Integrity Pillar, the source said, adding that the State Govt has already issued notices to the concerned authorities for shifting the office of Kekrupat Construction Committee of UCM from Kekrupat, AR school located inside Kangla and office of the PHE employees.
While informing that the Govt would be taking up necessary works for development of the Kekrupat martyrs� complex, the source said no private offices/buildings would be allowed inside the complex of Kangla.
In consonance with the Govt notices, eviction would be carried out after November 30, the source said.
